    1. Many people don't realize that there are a tiny few books on canning and preserving that have the government seal of approval (that is, the government has tested the recipes and found them safe). One is published by the University of Georgia Extension service, the others are put out by the Ball company. Over the past few years, I have gained enough experience canning that I will venture out and try recipes from other books, not to mention my grandmother's (!), but I was still quite delighted to [...]

    2. This is a beautiful book to look at and read, packed throughout with plenty of easy-on-the-eye tables throughout. As another reviewer noted, it was hard to take it back to the library. I will likely buy a copy for many years of future reference. This was my favorite of the 10 or so canning books I diligently combed through from the local library.Compared to Ball's 'Complete Book on Home Preserving: 400 delicious and creative recipes for today' from 10 years earlier (2006), this newer book (2016) [...]

    3. Essentially a jazzed up version of Ball's "Canning Back to Basics". Many of the same recipes just with an extra layer of complexity added to them.

    4. This is an excellent book. Unlike the previous Ball Complete Book of Canning and Preserving, this one leads off with the science and safety of canning, before getting to recipes (safety first!).It's definitely written for millennials, which I am, so I guess I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Most recipes are small batch (fewer than 10), and the pictures make you want to run out and make every recipe in one afternoon. Speaking of recipes, this book has a really nice assortment. There are your [...]

    5. So many new recipies. This was hard to take back to the library. Loved the salsa, peach salsa, honey sweet tea apricot jelly, and the homemade yogurt recipe worked

    6. Not your typical canning book from Ball. I will not be canning much until the fall harvest. To me this book is what I would call - small batch canning - since most of the recipes I see are in 4-8 pint jars. Also unlike other Ball home preserving books, this one has lots of beautiful color photos. In my unprofessional opinion, This book is not a replacement for Balls "Complete Book of Home Preserving" and will still want it on hand for most of the fall canning projects. Most of the canning projec [...]

    7. This book was great!!! It takes you step by step to learn how to can, preserve, ectThere are all kinds of different recipes for everything that can go in one of these jars. There are even tips on each recipe to help make it the best that you can make it. There are pictures with many of the recipes but even when there isn't you really do not need one, this book is that great. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who is interested in starting to learn how to do this or even someone who is [...]

    8. Great photo to make you extremely hungry while looking though to mark what you want to try. The Blueberry Lemon Jam is great! I also like that Ball has given some suggested recipes in which to use your newly canned goodies. I would say this is a Vol 2 of the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving. Both are great addition to a canner's library.

    9. I love a good canning book, have all the Ball books. Lots of new recipes, can't wait to try several but will have to wait until seasonal fruit and vegetables are available. Update: I did make the sloppy joe sauce, way to bland for my taste, just glad I only made half the recipe, even tried doctoring it up, finally just throwing it out.

    10. 4.5 -- thought this had some fun and inventive information and a great resource for all sorts of preserving. definitely a good reference on the bookshelf. nicely put together and designed, nice photographs, and reasonable assortment of "extra" recipes that use some of the items laid out in the book.

    11. just a reference book for me on canning fruits and veggies always searching for new ideas for canning veggie sand fruits.

    12. This is a decent book about preserving food. I was expecting only pickling formulas and this book is far more extended. It includes even freezing advice.
