    1. I LOVE to bake. That ain't no lie, and this was a nifty and original little cake book that will keep me in my baking "happy place" for a long time to come. Luscious photographs of all kinds of cake yummyness, and a virtual plethora of cake making combinations. Vanilla cakes, Chocolate cakes, Lemon name it. Add to that we get a ton of great ideas for different syrups and frostings. Easy to use, and a delight to drool over. What more can you ask for. I can't wait to get stuck in.

    2. This book is absolutely AWESOME! There are a total of 100 cakes in it, all with gorgeous full page pictures and sometimes even a two-page spread. The cakes are separated into categories depending on the main flavor or ingredient:☑ Vanilla cakes,☑ Chocolate cakes, ☑ Citrus cakes, ☑ Brown sugar cakes,☑ Fruit + veggie cakes,☑ Nutty cakes,☑ Coconut cakes and☑ Mocha cakes. The idea behind it is that you get a batter recipe for each category and some variations of each. For example with [...]

    3. This book is exactly what I needed and set out so well with such tempting photographs. They make you want to devour every single cake in this book. It's such a simple concept really but it's done so well in this book. You can literally make any combination of cake using this book. Why has no one done this before!

    4. You guys, this book is going to make you fat. You and everyone around you. But you are going to be fat and happy. I just went through this entire book and now I'm both starving and paralyzed with indecision as to which cake to make first. Can I make five at a time? If I make twenty at a time, can I eat them all before they get stale? If I invite friends over will I be willing to give up any of the cake? And if not, how fat am I willing to get in order to sample each and every one of these cakes? [...]

    5. I like how you can mix and match recipe elements, that there are a ton of flavor options, and there are photos of everything. I didn't love flipping around to different pages while baking, but the recipe I tried turned out great!

    6. While there are only 8 cake recipes in the book, there are enough creative variations and exquisite flavor combinations to keep you in cake for weeks and years to come. This book had me drooling over almost every photo and description. There are cakes, syrups and frostings galore! If you can't find several amazing ideas for cake in this book, you are crazy.I absolutely love the idea of using a syrup to kick up the flavors in a cake. It is an added surprise that goes a long way to make the cake a [...]

    7. Mix + Match Cakes by Caroline Wright is an imaginative and creative cookbook that uses a basic formula with variations to create different cake recipes. The recipes were created to allow vegans and people eating a gluten-free diet can use the recipes as the author created a gluten-free cake mix you can use in her recipes. Some of the recipes I plan to try include:Creamy Caramel CakeSpicy Cinnamon Cake with ApplesBest Blackout CakeWarm Chocolate Gingerbread CakeHostess CakeSpicy Hot Chocolate Cake [...]

    8. Good grief - do NOT open this book on an empty stomach! The images of cake in there are just absolutely gorgeous, and you are so definitely gonna be craving cake after just a browse through!I haven't tried the recipes or the technique yet, but I've been baking for a while and what the author states in here sounds absolutely right and good. Love the idea of a basic cake mix that you then mix and match - saves a lot of time and also provides you with a ready-made base in your pantry for cake anyti [...]

    9. A copy of this book has been generously provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I didn't think I would have such strong feelings for a book about cakes, yet here we are. When I bake, I tend to mix and match recipes from all over the place as it is, so this concept works perfectly for me( without the hassle of endless Google searches). It is a little overwhelming at first, but once I read the intro and flipped through some recipes, I got the gist. The photography is scrumptious, th [...]

    10. I received this book as an advance reader's copy from NetGalley.I am a competent cook, but an incompetent baker. All that sifting and fussing and exactitude is just too much for me to handle. This book is so NOT fussy. According to the Introduction, the idea is to find a picture of the cake that you want to make, then find the recipes that cake requires follow through with those recipes and finally assemble the cake. I love that the first 113 pages of this book are predominantly pictures of gorg [...]

    11. I love the idea of this cookbook! You have a basic cake recipe and by adding a few different ingredients and some flavored syrups, you can transform it into almost any type of cake you wish. I'm a little leary about how it will work at high altitude, but am eager to try it.

    13. Confession time: I LOVE baking but have never been a fan of eating cake. However, it’s so pretty and there are so many fun ways to make amazing cake creations that I tend to bake cakes and cupcakes frequently for friends and family members. This book is the perfect companion for any busy bakers, novice bakers, seasoned baking veterans, and everyone in between. Caroline sets readers up with a variety of cake batters, syrups, fillings, and frostings and then sets you free to mix and match (see wh [...]

    14. Oh. My. Goodness. You guys, this book is glorious. I should probably mention that I don't usually choose cake of all of the desserts that exist but these are so beautiful and they all sound amazing. I was having so much trouble deciding which one to make first that I haven't tried any of them yet. Maybe for my husband's birthday? (shh!) All the same, I am sure I will love nearly every recipe in this book, and I really admire how it is laid out. Wright gives you combinations to try, but they are [...]

    15. I must admit I have a sweet tooth and there was no way I wouldn't enjoy this! It had so many cake recipes (duh it's in the title) and it had such mouth watering pictures like this:The Mix and Match on the title is to basically mix and match different cake layers: the cake mix, the syrup and the frosting. It had the more usual types like vanilla and chocolate, but also recipes with nuts and fruit-veggies, which I thought was nice as some looked rather tasty!Unfortunately, being an arc copy and ev [...]

    16. I received a copy of this book as an ARC from NetGallery in exchange for an honest reviewHonestly, I don’t know what to say. I could sing praises about this book all day, but the words just won’t flow. So like the book, I’ll keep this review short and sweet. This book takes a bit of time to get used to navigating, but once you get used to it it is truly an innovative book- and the navigation methodology is efficient to boot. Each recipe is laid out on its own page with a nice, vibrant pictu [...]

    17. What a wonderful book, makes my tummy rumble just thinking about all the wonderful combination I can make. And that is what the book is about - that a generic mix recipe in your favourite flavour (recipes provided for Vanilla, Dk Chocolate, Coconut, Peanut Butter, Apple, Mocha and Lemon) there is also a gluten-free and vegetarian option. All very simple. Then you add the syrup and or frosting and or flavoured sugars, again there are recipes to choose from. These recipes can be made into cakes, c [...]

    18. This is by far one of the coolest cookbooks I have ever read in my entire life! I have never read a cookbook that broke down the recipes in such a way as this book did. I absolutely adored how you could mix and match everything. All you have to do is mix and match a cake with a syrup and frosting. There are so many combinations to choose from and the combination recipes they provided look and sound absolutely to die for. I already have so many combination ideas brewing in my head and I also am j [...]

    19. For me this is a very innovative approach to a book focused on cake baking You could call it a baking choose your own adventure! The majority of the book focuses on the cake batter options. There are sections that follow for the fillings (or syrups) and frostings. If you have ever wanted to make your own "custom" creations and keep things exciting, this is the cake baking book for you I am thinking I need to try the vanilla confetti with lemon pudding filling and toasted marshmallow frosting, per [...]

    20. like many mix and match books there's a handful of batters , and a handful of frosting's what really steps up this game is the syrups as I read and reread this book day dreaming of Birthdays, picnics and just because reasons to make each and every single recipe with names like Spiced coffee + Cream cake, Mulberry street cake, Coconut Cloud cake, Dream Cake I urge you to run not walk to your nearest book seller and buy this book for you, your mother, your sister and your neighbor ( they'll make [...]

    22. Cake Magic! provides multiple combinations of a few basic cakes, changing up the favors with flavored syrups and frostings. These cakes look absolutely delicious and I love the idea of not buying commercial cake mixes. The photographs are mouth-watering and the recipes clearly written and easy to follow. I've already pre-ordered this book and as soon as it cools down, I'll be trying these recipes.

    23. I think I died and went to cake heaven when I read this cookbook. It is amazing. The pictures, oh the pictures - they are mouthwatering! Everything is laid out clearly and concisely, but this is not your average cookbook. Before you get to the recipes, you must flip through all the cake combinations first, making it very hard to decide what to make first! Also, the entire chapter dedicated to mocha

    24. I really like the concept of this book.My daughter and I have chosen a couple of combinations to try and we will give it a whirl. A fun take on the traditional baking recipe book, this allows you to flex your cake depending on what's in the cupboard and how the mood take you!MetLineReader rating 4*I received a review copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. My review copy was quite difficult to follow without page numbers to reference, but other than that it is a great idea

    25. I love this book! I received this book from netgalley in return for an honest review and Wow - this cookbook is so innovative and fund the malted milk buttercream makes me swoon! I feel as if Caroline Wright was sitting at my table and we were just talking through a party - being able to mix and match recipes - have super clever tips and ideas right at your fingertips - this is my idea of the perfect baking book.

    26. ARC provided in exchange for review. This is a great cake book. I love the conversion chart in the beginning. I hate making things and then having to clean of my hand, find my phone and google the conversion. But the best part, the recipes. Caroline Wright gives you a book of recipes but then gives you mix and match ideas to come up with cakes. No more let me fill up a book with the same cake recipe but different filling or frosting to take up space.

    27. OMG this book! If you love cake, you need this in your life. Each recipe has variations (Gluten-Free, Vegan, and even for some ingredients!). As a book, its fun to flip through, with awesome pictures. Definitely recommend getting it if you are into baking.*This arc was kindly provided by Workman Publishing Company via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

    28. Probably my fault this didn't work for me but I thought it involved cake mixes. You make your own here, then add fancy syrups with tons of calories, THEN add frosting . . . that seems nuts to a mom who just wants a nice easy way to make a good-tasting cake. So I wasn't impressed.

    29. I liked this book because it is very easy to follow and has a lot of interesting cake ideas. Similar to this book, I too build upon my basic cake mix recipe to experiment with new creations. The visuals in the book are mouthwatering!
