    1. There's a lot of truth in this book and I really appreciate Pope acknowledging that memorization isn't everything. She clearly has a love for God and His word, and that's very encouraging."The Bible does not command us to memorize Scripture Spending quality time in God's Word leads us to a greater knowledge of God, and memorizing is one productive way to achieve that. The goal of memorizing should not be confused with the ultimate goal of knowing God and loving Him." (p 27)The book itself is a q [...]

    2. In "His Word in My Heart", Mrs Pope introduces us to a effective method for memorizing and meditating on scripture. She did lose me a bit when she almost seems to say that doing anything during your "down time" - such as crossword puzzles, reading, or listening to music - is a waste of time when you should be focused solely on Scripture. I believe her point was more that if you think you don't have time for memorization, but have time in your day for those other things that you could reprioritize [...]

    3. Oh my goodness this book is one of my new favorites!! This book is so down to earth, practical and also very, very inspiring!! Janet's love of God is extremely evident and contagious.I can't wait to begin my journey of memorizing God's Word - drawing closer to Christ and being renewed by His living and active truths! Highly recommend!

    4. Janet gives helpful and tangible tips from her own experience on how to hide God's Word in your heart. Inspiring and motivational, this book will leave you wanting to soak in God's Word and try out her system for yourself!

    5. The biggest takeaway I received from this book, His Word in My Heart, is the idea of memorizing entire passages (and even books!) of the Bible rather than picking verses here and there. This makes so much sense. It makes for an easier way to memorize since one verse flows into the next, and it keeps you from taking a verse out of context. The only thing that I would claim to be a negative for this book was that the NetGalley e-book that I received was not formatted correctly during the parts of t [...]

    6. It has been a couple years since I read this book but I keep thinking about it and wanting to read it again so I thought it was worth sharing. Pope does a great job of inspiring the reader with the power of God's Word and the value of making a habit to memorize and meditate on it day in and day out. This book is especially geared toward women, although the principles are for all believers. She provides very practical advice about the logistics of memorizing entire passages of Scripture. But befo [...]

    7. I received this book for free through First Reads. This was a good book that shared that not only shared how to memorize Bible verses but also showed the benefits associated with that. Other than the fact that I have memorized a few chapters of Bible because of this book, I also learned some other things. I learned that sometimes jut learning a sole verse can be bad as it can be taken out of context. So learning an entire passage or chapter can help to give each verse meaning. I am glad I read t [...]

    8. I would love to meet this author in person. She comes across as such a spiritual and humble person! If that is what memorizing scripture does to a person then we should all get busy! I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the advice was practical and the personal examples informative. You will come away with a better understanding of why we should memorize scripture and a simple way to start. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in scripture and how it can benefit them as a Chr [...]

    9. A beautifully written book about how to gain insight into the Bible. It is definitely a Christian book; the point is to memorize material from the religious book you want to follow. It could apply to the Torah or Buddhist teachings or the Quaran/Koran. She shows methods and gives helpful hints about memorizing material and thereby, thinking more deeply about what you are reading and memorizing. Pope is a great writer and may be repetitious but her point is always clear. She provides many example [...]

    10. This book is an easy read. I read the entire work coming and going to and from Los Angelas on a two hour flight round trip. The scriptures she chose to begin with were not my favorite so I picked Proverbs because that is, to me, the most meaningful book in the Bible. Choosing your own favorites is far more inspirational than the suggestions given in this book. The author reiterates this too. I loved how she displayed her passion for The Word. It was quite inspirational as well. Another highlight [...]

    11. Lots of people memorize verses. In this book, however, Janet Pope talks about memorizing chapters, or even entire books of the Bible. Quick to point out that she’s just a regular person, not a memorizing savant, Pope gives compelling reasons for memorizing larger portions of the Bible, as well as very practical ideas for how to go about doing so.Read my full review here

    12. I received this book through first-reads.A very useful tool to help one discover a way for them to memorize whole books of scripture. The author is inspiring in sharing her journey on the subject. Also points out the reason behind memorizing scripture and how to do it in a way where you are getting the meaning behind God's word and actually applying it to your life. Not just memorizing for the sake of it.

I am excited and motivated to apply her methods in my own life!

    14. I have been memorizing large sections of scripture for awhile, and this book outlines the very same formula and methods that I use. I recommend not only the book, but the practice to everyone. It's great to read with an accountability group.

    15. I found this to be a helpful book in motivating me to memorize Scripture well as to use it. The book is very short. It has been a few years since I read the book. Not sure it was fantastically well written, but the content was good.

    16. This is a V$RY good book on memorizing whole chapters and books of the Bible and what a blessing faithfully doing this throughout the years is to your personal walk with the Lord. I am so motivated. Highly recommend the book!

    17. Thought provoking and inspiring. Memorizing God's Word should be a priority for all Christians. :)It is neat how God uses it to correct and encourage me.

    18. Very good so farencouraging me to start memorizing and meditating on God's Wordd reminding me of the necessity of this!
