    1. I am reviewing the novel The Charmer by Mandasue Heller which is an excellent thriller which I bought from a car boot sale. Mandasue lived in the Hulme Crescents part of Manchester for 10 years and her books are based on that infamous area. The books she writes are gritty thrillers and this story proves no exception. The plot is a teenager who was brought up in care inherits a 3/4 million pound fortune from her fathers sister who she has never met. She buys a house and gets a job helping the tea [...]

    2. A friend of mine is a massive Heller fan and lent me this book.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would most definitely recommend it!

    3. Not bad but not greatI've heard a lot about this author and have read some of her books before and I enjoyed them but I'm sad to say that I was disappointed with this book but it wasn't that bad but then again it wasn't that good. I will still be reading more from this author.

    4. I was gonna rate it 4 stars eventhough the heroine was pissing me off really really bad but I thought it's okay let's see how it goes but the ending was the last straw for me. when I read Martina Cole books, after all the heroine miseries there's always a happy ending, at the end of her books I feel good but I've read 3 books of mandasue heller and at the end I felt nothing but anger and disappointment over wasting my time over a story so pointless!!!

    5. Intensely enjoyable book that has the style of Martine Cole and the like about it. The book was well written, intense in a few parts, if not a little predictable in places. Nonetheless it was a good book and I look forward to more of hers.

    6. Eye-rollingly daft had to laugh to see the ubuquitous 'if dahdah thinks dahdah he's got another think coming' - Heller's ole faithful stockphrase.

    7. The first half of the book was very boring and ridiculous, it took ages to get into the main plot which was very interesting and intriguing. But then the end was very rushed and stupid.

    8. BrilliantFantastic story uldn't put it down when I started it . recommended to everyone who likes a great read .

    9. Definitely what you would call a page turner, but not without its faults. First the bad. Writing style is a little hammy. I am not sure why so many are calling it gritty. Yes, there is a lot of unpleasantness and dark themes, but the actual style and the speaking, I don't think anyone would say it rings true by a long shot. The constant cigarette smoking got on my nerves all through this, and there were contradictions in Maria's personality too. For example, when she first revisits her old estat [...]

    10. Another spellbinding book which has twists and turns throughout the book. You are never quite sure what is going to happen and if you can guess then ending then you really must be a psychic. Maria Price who has successfully managed to survive living in care and get a successful life finds out that she has inherited a huge and expensive house as well as a large sum of money. She seems to have it all when she meets Joel Parry, who is a charmer and good looking. Unfortunately for Maria, Joel is not [...]

    11. I do believe that Mandasue writes in the same vein as Martina Cole. I also believe, like some others have written, that Maria really was a dumb cow when it came to Joel. I always thought people in general were suspicious characters and her general demeanor seemed to be of trustworthiness due to her foster care. Either way, I did enjoy the book and had quite some turns in the storyline. Wish my Mum was still around as she would have loved reading this one.

    12. I felt the build up to the story took simply ages and then the end seemed really rushed. I don't think I would read any more by this author for a while. I did wonder if the door had been left open for a sequel but don't feel tempted to investiage if there is one.

    13. Ladies must be careful with who they fall in love. As they say looks can be deceiving. Rather go for the Nigels and the Leroys and not the Joels and Adams. Another life truth that was revealed is You live by the sword you die by the sword.

    14. A recognisable format where nice girl meets not so nice boy, the story will leave you wanting more. Maybe there will be a sequel? A bit violent in places, sending the imagination wildly into some gross visions. Maria was a tad naiive though, she needed a big wake-up call.

    15. First book I've read from this author and really appreciated it. Nice plot and I liked the main female character, hated Joel. Very good book overall.

    16. I like this Author but I have to be honest and say that this was not one of her bestdisappointed actually

    17. First book I have read from this author, pretty shocking and grusome in some parts but really enjoyed it.

    18. This was a fantasic book its that type of book you can't put down, although I was a bit dissapointed with the end . I'll say not more if you've not read it!!
