    1. I really enjoyed this despite the fact that it completely disregarded the fact that there are English South Africans too. The writer reveals that he comes from mixed race ancestry - there seems to be a great many white South Africans (including Pik Botha) claiming the same at present. This however, fits in with his story which is well-told.

    2. Read after my self drive safari through southern Africa and did give perspective on Afrikaans in Africa today. Racial tensions are a felt undercurrent in South Africa today as they deal with the huge imbalances in population mix, wealth-poverty and political power.
