Hewitt trys to be objective but usually comes off as insincere when he is negative. His opinions follow those of Weller, particularly at the time this was written, too closely to be considered truly objective.     2. which our suspicion that the incomparable Paul Weller is actually a bit of a twat is roundly confirmed, even when written about in such fanboy style. To be fair, this came out in 1983 in the aftermath of the band splitting up, so it was probably aimed squarely at pop fans of the day. However, it remains the only authorised biography of The Jam, and as such it's pretty lame.
