    1. 5+ stars – Historical/Regency Romance Words seem wholly inadequate, my friends. Why are the best books always the hardest to review?! Alas, if only I could have clever Lady Whistledown write this. Flirtatious, affable, charming, and witty Colin has been my favorite Bridgerton sibling from the beginning, and I was most looking forward to his story, especially knowing that the strikingly handsome, popular bachelor was being paired with his sister’s sweet best friend, plump, unpopular, wallflow [...]

    2. ”I am certainly not going to marry Penelope Featherington!”Ever since we heard Colin Bridgerton utter, ummm, shout the above statement, we should have known that he’s going to eat his words sooner or later. And eat them he did.Penelope Featherington. She freshly comes out to society, out to meet the ton, with an excess of a few stones in her weight, and either orange/yellow/red gowns which doesn’t do her complexion any good. We can’t blame her. Her mother is a tyrant. But Penelope knows [...]

    3. St. Bride's Church Fleet Street, London, England, c.1830*★★★★½ I read this when it first came out over ten years ago and remember loving Colin. Though I’m a bit of a “re-reader,” I haven’t done so. Consequently, I jumped at the chance to join in a “buddy read,” the forth in this enduring series. However, on re-read I was really impressed with Penelope. Don’t get me wrong: I still had heart palpitations over Colin and his deep green eyes. Nevertheless, I appreciated Penelope [...]

    4. There is a perfect word to describe how I feel about Julia Quinn. It’s ‘meh’. I don’t love her, I don’t hate her, I will read her, I will quickly forget her.I’m not sure why that is because she is very popular and other people seem to find her books, and this particular one especially, amazing. But to me they are just too cute. Too sweet. I don’t want cute and sweet. I’m sure you’ve gathered that much from my reviews – I can tolerate cute and sweet only in really homoeopathic [...]

    5. Penelope Featherington has been in love with Colin Bridgerton for what seems like forever, from a young girl making her debut in society to a resign spinster. Penelope feelings have only grown throughout the years for Colin. Thinking she knew everything about Colin there was to know, Penelope comes across his hidden secret that starts to change her perspective of him in a surprising way that only draws them closer.Colin Bridgerton has always been the laid-back charmer of the family, but behind t [...]

    10. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favourites in the genre, and one of my favourite examples of it is Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth book in her iconic series about the eight Bridgerton siblings.Colin is the third son, and has featured in the previous books as a good-humoured, devil-may-care sort of chap; easy going with a killer smile, good sense of humour, able to laugh at himself and always ready with a quip or witty rejoinder. He’s all of those things, but by [...]

    12. Posted onUnder the CoversPenelope Featherington has been overlooked her entire life. She’s been told that she’s not pretty enough, too plump, too nervous and too quiet. And yet, Penelope probably has the most personality out of all her heroines in this series. Penelope is hands down my favourite heroine! I love seeing her growth as a character in the previous ones leading up to her own book, Romancing Mr Bridgerton with her long-time crush, Colin.I wondered how Colin would redeem himself aft [...]

    13. My Review:What a fabulously fun read! I adored Colin and Penelope and especially Lady Danbury! Revisiting the rest of the Bridgerton family was truly a joy :) Colin and Penelope make the perfect match and seeing close childhood friends grow into loving, adult soul mates was one of the greatest highlights in my reading adventures this year. I was smiling from the beginning to the end – laughing out loud and sighing often.

    14. Oh, what a difference the second half of a book can make.I want to be clear on this: when I was still only halfway through the book, I considered it a keeper. Penelope was wonderful: truly shy around anyone she didn't know well, with a few horribly painful/embarrassing moments in her life that Quinn actually took the time to show. I cringed in sympathy when Penelope came upon Colin just as he was telling his brothers that he wouldn't marry her and Penelope did what she could to preserve her dign [...]

    15. Another favorite! MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IN THE SERIES!Oh, this book made me so happy…Seriously, JULIA QUINN CAN DO NO WRONG.Anyway, Romancing Mister Bridgerton is Colin’s book, and I almost couldn’t believe who's his lady in this let your jaws drop fellow readers, for she is the plainest of Janes, wallflower of wallflowers, ugly duckling, the one and only: Miss Penelope Featherington! (MY GOD) And I love her so! Even in the previous books as a minor character - my heart would ache for that [...]

    16. I don't know what's with me and Julia Quinn, but her books really don't work for me. I see that a lot of people love this series and her other books, I see that this book got a lot of love from readers, but I I was bored most of the time. Spoilers ahead.Colin and Penelope were friends one moment and the other he wants to marry her. Just like that. I never saw how his feelings changed, we never witness his attraction, just all of a sudden they're kissing and he's asking her mother for her hand. A [...]

    17. Penelope and Colin! Both are my favorite characters and it was best romance I have ever read. Oh I am! I hardly read romance and like it but this series has made me fall all over again in love with romance

    18. Every time I finish a book I liked it I find it really difficult to describe with words the reasons. 4,5 stars from me. This book gave me the hope and the faith that true love can be all around and it comes when you don’t even expect it.The story is about Penelope a young lady who spend almost half of her life being secretly in love with Colin, hers best friend’s brother. While her secret love for Colin is growing he spents most of his time travelling abroad, not to mention that all these ye [...]

    19. Rather disappointing read, especially since I enjoyed "An Offer from a Gentleman" so much. Got through it by sheer perseverance alone, not because I couldn't put the book down. The dialogues and action in the first part are pretty shallow and boring (unless I'm missing something that I'm supposed to detect "between the lines") and the plotline about unmasking "Lady Whistledown" was really of very little interest to me. There are several characters - Lady Danbury, Mrs. Featherington, Eloise - who [...]

    20. Well, I'll probably have food thrown at me for the 3 stars. I would have gone 3.5 but not 4. I'm shocked at how much I didn't get into this story. I tried. I really did. It's Julia Quinn. It's the Bridgertons. I persevered. I'm bummed because I love this series so far and it may take someone giving me a ginormous shove to go to book 5. Colin was a poo. Perhaps my expectations of him were too high. He was cranky, self-centered, and had some jealousy issues that totally turned me off. And poor Pen [...]

    21. I started reading this to try to de-stress. I've never actually read an out-and-out romance before, but I heard Quinn wrote fluffy and fun regencies, and her style, at least at the beginning, was lively and engaging. However, as the novel progressed, more and more things began to annoy me. First, Quinn does something with POV that really bothers me, and which I am trying to delicately explain here without giving away the book's central mystery, slight as it is. Basically, Quinn has a revelation [...]

    22. Okay. Full disclosure before we even start this review:1) Penelope Featherington is the queen of my heart.2) Colin Bridgerton is bar none my absolute favorite male character in this entire series.3) In the very first book, on like page 72 with absolutely no foreknowledge whatsoever, I decided that Colin and Penelope should get married. So, you can imagine how I felt when it was time for me to read this book. And let me just say, it was everything I could have hoped for and more.A lot of factors c [...]

    23. BR with Andrea and Lacey. Thanks ladies- I am glad I read it. At least I am not dissing the book from a position of ignorance! It just is not my kind of romance:)I had never liked the idea of this book, although I have read a few in this series and I seem to remember thinking they were ok. I could not enjoy this one.The writing was fine. It was both the MCs- they just plain annoyed me.Colin was self-satisfied but insecure. He whined about having no purpose in his life, while he traveled the worl [...]

    24. (Re-Read December 2016)4.5 Stars.I'd been looking forward to reading Colin's story, and it didn't disappoint. What's more, Penelope might be one of my more favourite heroines too, because of her subtle wit and strength, as opposed to some heroines who either lack these qualities or shove them down your throat.I also loved Lady Danbury. It lost half a star because I would have liked at least one more scene filled with flirtatious banter between the two main characters before they got engaged. It w [...]

    25. Una delicia! Encantada con la historia de Colin y Penelope y encantada con la serie que me encantan las series de familias!! y esta es un gusto para mis sentidos.

    26. Romancing Mister Bridgerton I actually skipped this book and went on to Eloise's story. When I was about half way into To Sir Phillip, with Love I thought I kind of liked Eloise's story and was reminded what a great writer Julia Quinn can be. I decided to come back and read Penelope and Colin's story. For God's sake, it is "the Bridgertons"!I really like how Julia Quinn writes. The witty and charming subtlety, I always get into a happy place where I just enjoy the brilliance. There is nothing li [...]

    28. See this review at shamelessromancereviewsspDear Ms Quinn, I bow down to you and your Bridgerton series. You have created such an intricate family tree that I have no hope of ever forgeting about. After reading book four, I find I am quite addicted to your writting. I really couldnt help but love every single page of this novel. The story of Colin and Penelope feels like it has been a long time coming. Penelope is not the "young" debutant that most tend to be. She is considered a spinster at the [...]
